Linen Bedding

I finally got around to buying some 100% linen bedding to replace the one and only set I own which is at least six years old and well overdue for replacement. So what do I think of it? To say I love it would be an understatement. No more cotton sheets for me!

(I bought the pink cushions from Ikea - Linen blend cover with feather cushion insert for $21 each!)
After doing a bit of on-line research, it quickly became apparent that linen bedding is not exactly cheap, but if you look around you can get your hands on some at a reasonable price. Here is a quick comparison of what a King Size Duvet cover will cost you:

Society $655
Bedouin $469
Bemboka $395
Home Republic $229

I ended up purchasing the set from Home Republic which just happened to be on sale at the time - how convenient. I just couldn't justify spending the extra money on the more expensive brands, particularly as our funds are needed for another little project we have going at the moment (erm....that would be the reno.)

Home Republic's 100% linen bedding comes in four colours - white, natural, coal and duck egg blue. I chose the natural linen duvet cover and white sheet set.

I also bought some saffron-coloured linen pillow cases (as I'm having a bit of a love affair with yellow at the moment.)

Do you own linen bedding? What do you think of the crinkled look - love it or hate it? Personally I don't mind it which is a good thing as I don't iron - EVER.

  1. Love it Caroline, especially with the yellow pillow case. And intentional crinkles are right up my alley too as I only iron on work days. The ironing station is for Legoman and as I refuse to iron his shirts I could hardly complain! I've seen that book around the traps- is it as good as the cover appears ? mel x

  5. I love this linen, and confess to having my eye on this very set for ages now! I really need to show some restraint right now though. Still have some big ticket items to complete at our place.

  6. I bought linen sheets ages ago...but I am waiting to put them on our bed until spring is officially here.
I tend to have only one set of sheets for our bed and I just wash them and put them back on. So at the end of winter I am going to retire our current set and replace them with our new linen set.
I got ours from Restoration Hardware (a US shop) and we got natural sheets and a navy duvet cover.
I might have to take a trip to Ikea though for some lovely throw cushions!

And I love the crinkly look...it looks lived in and oh so comfortable!

  7. I bought my linen with the intention of keeping it aside until we moved into the house, but I just couldn't resist unwrapping and trying it out. How did yours compare in price? xx

  9. I love the crumpled look but I'm a bit divided on the linen versus cotton. They're both so different. I keep swinging between the two. Though my husband who rarely has an opinion on such things MUCH prefers the linen.

    1. These ones are Home Republic Vintage Washed Linen which I purchased from Adairs. For similar coloured bed sheets I would try Bedouin Societe (approx $279 for a fitted QS sheet) - they have a great range of colours to choose from. xx

  16. Yeah, making any bedding comfortable, linen can be the best one I also believe. I went through your old bedding description and purchasing new one. It was simply great. Though I personally feel more comfort with a bit pinkish, your saffron-coloured linen pillow cases seem well match to the duvet cover. Anyway, I would like to leave my hearty and decor loving thanks to sharing such a helpful idea and of course for mentioning the probable cost of king size duvet covers.
