It's Finally Finished

After approximately 18 months duration, the renovation to this character house, sited opposite Orleigh Park in West End, is finally completed. It was designed by local architect James Davidson - you can read more about this project here.

The newly painted "grey/blue" coloured weatherboards is very popular around these parts - at least four homes nearby have recently been painted in a similar shade.

Here's the same house during construction -

And the original cottage -
As you all know, we are painting our weatherboard house white (and I for one will be glad to see the green finally go - sorry Pantone, I have to disagree with you this year.) What is your favourite external colour scheme?

  1. I hear you about that heritage green on exteriors...I think it just got overused in the 90s. We were at Orliegh Park on Monday...I didn't even think to look at any of the houses along there. I think that grey looks good but I do like a white house best. xx

I'm liking the grey, charcoal and crisp white colour schemes at the moment-

  3. Wow! We will probably paint our place a blue grey shade, with white and navy trim. It is currently quite blue, and we want to tone that down, and paint all the cream and yellow white. xx

  4. Urghh I hate the mission brown that's everywhere at our house - I don't mind the grey white but worry its been done to death and will date quick! We are going black n white - classic, won't date... Hopefully

  5. We have started painting our house a really light silver grey with white trim. I love it. And I hope I still love it when we finally finishing painting the house...probably about two years from now!

  6. They took a quaint Queenslander and turned it into a McMansion. sigh.

  7. I saw this house last weekend. While I love that they have kept an original Queenslander on the block, I just felt the exterior was too 'busy'. I too love a white house. We will be painting ours white with black (or charcoal) trim soon. Would love to know what colours OVP recommend. Can you tell?

    1. OVP have specified Dulux Whisper White and Resene "Cool Colour" Black for our project. A number of their projects have recently been completed here in West End - their B&W colour palette is popping up all over the place. xx

  9. We've painted two houses grey and I think our current house will be the third.
The darkest grey that I can get away with! and windows in white.
I'd really like a deep pink front door too but am probably pushing my luck.

    1. I happen to like a bold front door too - go for it! After all, it's just a door and easy to repaint if you change your mind. xx
